Build Buddies was created from my daughters love of arts and crafts, and the joy she gets from building things such as Lego kits, or following arts and crafts guides online. One day my daughter asked me if she could make some video for YouTube to share with her friends, and in true Daddy fashion I went over the top and bought a website name, wrote the code for the pages you are now reading, and we designed a logo. Mummy also likes to get crafting, coming up with craft-based ideas for gifts and events throughout the year - So hopefully Mummy will make a few videos here and there too.
We realise that a LOT of young kids these days watch YouTube, YouTube Kids, or similar video websites, without any social engagement or creativity on their part. Our hope is that by sharing these videos with other children, it will inspire them to stop "Doom Scrolling", and instead get creative and build things.
Privacy and child protection are very important to us. We created this website to be a safe place for kids, with no adverts and only using affiliate links to trusted websites. We have chosen to avoid features like comments boxes, which can be abused or used to potentially cause harm. Third party services are kept to the bare minimum required for this website to function. To protect childrens data, we simply don't ask for it (just parental email for content submissions). When we start allowing users to post their own content, we will introduce voting for "Likes" only - no-one likes bad feedback.
Our small team is new to content creation, so please excuse any camera bumps or hiccups we make along the way. The bigger Build Buddies work full time jobs, so we are not able to pump out video's on a weekly basis (well, not yet anyway).
To begin with, we will be looking to add a mailing list so users can be kept up-to-date with our latest videos and guides.
Following on from that, we want our users to be able to share their own creations with fellow Build Buddies.
